Alok Sir, how could you do this? I touch your feet!

Do you know Dr. Alok Sagar?

Qualificiation (according to common norms of our society):

  • Engineering Degree from IIT Delhi
  • Master and PhD from Rice University Houston, TX, USA in 1977
  • His ex-students include previous Indian RBI Governor  Raghuram Rajan

Qualificiation which he likes and live with:

  • More than 25 years living and working with tribal people in Betul and Hoshangabad districts of Madhyapradesh as one of them!alok-sagar_from_yourstory

He did not, and did not want to reveal his ‘qualified’ identity. He thought, that is insignificant for his current life. So, more than 25 years, people did not know about ‘him’.He worked with Shramik Adivasi Sangathan to uplift people in those remote villages where no proper roads, no electricity or no facility for education. He lived with tribal people there, planted more than 50,000 trees, started educating kids and became one among them.

Recently, the district administration had doubts on him and said to him to leave the village due to security reasons. Hence, Alok Sagar was forced to reveal his past. It was shocking and unbelievable for them and whole world.

One way, that helped all of us to know that there are still such noble souls around to make this world more beautiful place to live; esp when we see more of artificial beauty these days!

He was not just another social activist or volunteer who sacrificed his life. He just showed us, how one should value and evaluate his/her life independently. One of the videos, the reporter asks multiple times about his past career, how was his IIT, PhD etc…He just told, it is not relevant now, so cannot tell about it. It shows his sharp view on his life and its purpose!

“In India, people are facing so many problems,
but people are busy proving their intelligence
by showing their degrees rather than
serving people,” Alok told the Hindustan Times.

This person can definitely spark the sleeping goodness in each of us, each of those millions around us…! Keep getting inspired,  does not matter how much! After all, without little fingers, the hand is incomplete!!

Thank you !

Another cool morning…

My son and me are up for the walk…

I told him “it’s very cold…let’s jog”

He: “Not cold… bit hot I think….”

What?!

I looked at him. He was laughing…

He was in a jacket and track pants.

Poor me on a shorts and a thin T-shirt…

He looked at me… and continued to giggle…and ran!

I caught him! 🙂

We continued to enjoy the warm morning 😉

After a while,  he called me from behind. “Papa, come,  watch the sky…”

Me: “Wow…the moon looks amazing”

He:” you saw that star? ”

He pointed to a star… I saw a bright star..

He:”If that star is this bright even in this far and this light conditions, it must be really bright and powerful…”

Like every child, his enthusiasm and exploration started…!

I was about to continue walking. He called again!

He:”Papa, just two minutes wait and look at the sky…. ,more and more stars will appear.. like a magic”

I did! It did appear! Saw a wonder in two minutes at the sky… started filling with bright stars… started seeing the stars which were not there at all!

It’s magical when you are ready to wait and see!  You see the unseen!

True on earth as well!

******

oh forgot the ending note! 😉

….a cool breeze passed us with a smile, and it cares our faces and made us smile!

Keep Smiling!

Literature Nobel Prize 2016 goes to…

Bob Dylan is the recipient of the 2016 Nobel prize for literature for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.

(Even if you do not read this article further, try to listen Bob Dylan’s Song – “Blowin’ In The Wind”.)
bob_dylan_google_labelled_reuse

Till I got this information through one of my friends in whatsapp, I did not know about Bob Dylan! 😦

I listen english music very rarely, more precisely, only when someone forcefully recommend a song. (Like my son forced me to listen Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never Again!)

I realized that Bob Dylan is an American songwriter, singer, artist, and writer. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more than five decades!

More than five decades….what a miss! 🙂

My friend also shared a song from Bob Dylan – “Blowin’ In The Wind”. Actually, after listening to that song, I decided to check about the person! Wow, excellent one and a must listen!

If you can spare 2 minutes and 38 seconds, please listen the song. You will like it! Click here to listen in youtube!

…now if you are interested to know more about Bob Dylan….visit http://bobdylan.com/ 🙂

I have decided to listen some more songs from Bob Dylan, yes without anyone forcing me!

How about you…..?

I want to become good!

sunrise_goodness

They are very close friends, so open to each other.

He: “I am not spending enough time with my kids and family. Going behind so many things and think that it is needed to take care of my family!”

She:“You are a good father and a husband. You take care of them right?”

He:“But…..”

She:“But , what!”

He: “I want to become good!” (He felt so subdued!)

She thought for a while…She smiled!

She said: “You, for that matter everyone is good and has Godness within. Being there as good, every moment is what makes the difference, of course challenging”

She could see a little glow on his face.

He: “Godness or Goodness?”

She:”Both are same!”

Sun looks so calm and charming!

He&She: “Oh, time to go home. They will be waiting!”

Both birds fled to their nests…carrying food for their family in their bills

…and carrying Godness in their hearts!

Making someone smile…

You feel special when you make someone smile; you are happier than the other!

I was browsing through my Reader in wordpress, also read and re-read some of the posts. Yeah, at times, your exploration takes you to new friends and their creations. I shared few likes, comments and replies as usual.

After a day or so, during the same Reader browsing, I landed to a person’s blog page. The title of a post dragged me in –  “Onam, Festival of Lights“!! Someone marked Onam as a festival of lights? I started reading it. Oh! the post talks about my daily posts about Onam and also, the person mentioned that she got the first like for her posts from me! Wow, it’s so lovely… a simple click made a person feel special!

I’ve written just over 50 posts and today I got my first ‘like’. Some one in southern India is writing a daily account of the Festival of Lights which I guess is like the Indian version of a Harvest/equinox festival. The author liked my post about a Loveliness of Ladybirds.

Here is the full post!

I realized only after one more day, that, it was just an anti-climax. I noticed my blog name in one of the titles during the browsing, from the same person. I was curious… and the blog title was “Sanil, Mr Pebbles”

The post goes like this…

What at a difference a day makes.

One person has looked at my blog and made a comment.
....
Here is the full post

It looked magical… magic of invisible threads between people. It is beyond words. I am sure, each of you would have had similar experiences here which made your day special; which made you special…

Words will get life when they touch hearts… Then creation goes beyond the creator!

Sharing is a promise of every soul! You are born with it!

Experience the joy of that promise…

Keep Smiling!

Tree&Kite…(Part2)

It was a dream which i penned in Tree&Kite part 1(click here to read)… Their today’s view made me write about them again….
I realized their love was so ardent and they are inseparable!

Tree: “Why you want to fly…. the sun is so hot.  I can give you shade….”

Kite: “I am meant for it!”

Tree: “Who told?”

Kite: “……..who told……?….oh my god….I don’t know…may be the kid who made me?”

Tree:“Yeah! They say all kites are for flying high!”

Kite: “…So can you let me go?”

Tree:”Don’t you like to stay in my shade….?”

Kite:”…but..they told…i am meant for…!”

Tree:”..ok hold me tight! Till you really want to go, unconditionally, be with me. Not for you, but for me! It gives me color!”

Kite looked at Tree’s Eyes. It was reflecting the Kite….and filled! Kite could not speak anything…

Tree:”Do you think I am selfish and stopping you from realizing your real goal in life?”

Kite:”…goal in life?..”

Tree: “The real meaning of your life…!”

Kite:”I can see me in your eyes!”

Kite held the Tree tight…

Wind tore Kite’s beauty; but it could not separate them!

Tree and Kite…

Are they happy to meet?
Are they happy to embrace?

Kite told: “I give you more color”

Tree told:” I let you hold me tight”

Kid thought: “How could I lose it”

Father consoled: “We will make another one”

Tree & Kite are happy.

Kid & Father are happy.

******

Seeing the Kite on the Tree, I told my son “See,  the tree is colorful”

He agreed, then told “… But,  It would have made skye more colorful….. ”

******

Tree let Kite fly.

Sky is so colorful!

Tree told: “I let you fly high”

Kite told: “I let you get your own beauty”

Tree &  Kite are happy!

Papa and Kid were busy making another colorful Kite.

Thiruvonam: Spreading Lights of Happiness…

First of all, Wish you all a very Happy Onam again….

thiruvonam

Onam is a festival of lights? Perplexed? I would say, Onam is a festival that spreads lights of Happiness. All through out 10 days of Onam, people, irrespective of color, religion, wealth, all try to be happy! I am not sure, is there any other festival in the world “forces” people to be happy from the core theme of the festival.

Onam, the whole theme of the festival is being happy and that’s what the festival is for! That’s why in Kerala, there is a saying “Kaanam Vittum Onam Unnanam” and be happy for it! (It means that “One must have the Onam lunch even selling his property, to have so”  and be happy that you could do it!)

Today is Onam Day 11  and is Thiruvonam!

Serenity of Onam & Bakrid…(Onam Day 10!)

onamday10

Look at any pookkalam(floral decoration) for a while…you can feel the serenity of Onam. Onam days shower peace and happiness to the nature and minds. Every celebration is an occasion where we try to make others happy, along with that, we become happy(actually happier!). So, we can celebrate together only, not alone! Once we can cherish the moments of smiles and sharing, the celebration becomes meaningful. Those moments start bringing a feel of serenity and cares your mind…

Today is Onam Day 10! So, thiruvonam today?

Leafy Beauty…(Onam Day 9)

wp-image-1049657125jpg.jpg

Why do we celebrate Onam during Chingam (ചിങ്ങം)?

(Chingam is the first month of Malayalam Calendar or Kollavarsham.  It comes during August-September months.  Chingam 1 is considered as new year in Kerala.)

It is believed that the King Mahabali visits Kerala every year to see his people.  It was like heaven and people were very happy when he ruled this land. Hence when he visits once a year,  he wants to see his people in merry and his land prosperous.  Chingam is usually the harvest time in Kerala and people will be happier during that.  So Onam is also considered as harvest festival.

Today is Onam Day 9 and also Bakrid! Eid Mubarak!
