Paalam KalyanaSundaram – A man took unusual road to happiness!

Dear Friends,

Some of you may be knowing Sri. Paalam Kalyana Sundaram. If you do not know, here we go!

Let’s start with a crisp and short video. It is a must watch and takes just 3 min 9 seconds.

He started sharing most of his earnings for children and needy in the society. He imbibed this and internalized from a very early stage of his life. Later, he started spending all his earnings to the noble cause of supporting the needy in the society.

He believes, when we live for others, that is when we get the ultimate happiness in life. Also he says, compassion/love is the key to do it.

There are many organizations acknowledged his work , including….

“Outstanding People of 20th Century” – by UNO

Rajinikanth adopted him as his father!

“Top 10 Librarians in the world”

“Man of the Millennium” – By an US organization (INR 30Crores that he got from this award is fully given for charity)

“Life time Service” Award – Rotary Club

“Best Librarian of India” – Govt of India

“One of the noblest of the world” – International Biographical Centre, Cambridge…

…many more!

All those accolades do not influence his strong desire to support the world, even at the age of 76…., all that just motivations for many others in this world to know about his noble work and be part of it!

For  me, you can see a real human with humanity and love in him!

Have a nice day!

Making someone smile…

You feel special when you make someone smile; you are happier than the other!

I was browsing through my Reader in wordpress, also read and re-read some of the posts. Yeah, at times, your exploration takes you to new friends and their creations. I shared few likes, comments and replies as usual.

After a day or so, during the same Reader browsing, I landed to a person’s blog page. The title of a post dragged me in –  “Onam, Festival of Lights“!! Someone marked Onam as a festival of lights? I started reading it. Oh! the post talks about my daily posts about Onam and also, the person mentioned that she got the first like for her posts from me! Wow, it’s so lovely… a simple click made a person feel special!

I’ve written just over 50 posts and today I got my first ‘like’. Some one in southern India is writing a daily account of the Festival of Lights which I guess is like the Indian version of a Harvest/equinox festival. The author liked my post about a Loveliness of Ladybirds.

Here is the full post!

I realized only after one more day, that, it was just an anti-climax. I noticed my blog name in one of the titles during the browsing, from the same person. I was curious… and the blog title was “Sanil, Mr Pebbles”

The post goes like this…

What at a difference a day makes.

One person has looked at my blog and made a comment.

Here is the full post

It looked magical… magic of invisible threads between people. It is beyond words. I am sure, each of you would have had similar experiences here which made your day special; which made you special…

Words will get life when they touch hearts… Then creation goes beyond the creator!

Sharing is a promise of every soul! You are born with it!

Experience the joy of that promise…

Keep Smiling!

Thiruvonam: Spreading Lights of Happiness…

First of all, Wish you all a very Happy Onam again….

thiruvonam

Onam is a festival of lights? Perplexed? I would say, Onam is a festival that spreads lights of Happiness. All through out 10 days of Onam, people, irrespective of color, religion, wealth, all try to be happy! I am not sure, is there any other festival in the world “forces” people to be happy from the core theme of the festival.

Onam, the whole theme of the festival is being happy and that’s what the festival is for! That’s why in Kerala, there is a saying “Kaanam Vittum Onam Unnanam” and be happy for it! (It means that “One must have the Onam lunch even selling his property, to have so”  and be happy that you could do it!)

Today is Onam Day 11  and is Thiruvonam!

Elegance of Onam (Onam Day 5)

Everyday pookkalam (floral decoration) adds to the elegance of Onam festival all throughout 10days from Atham to Thiruvonam. Onam is a story of truth,  kindness and commitment.  It reminds us that happiness is a result of selflessness. It unveiled through the story of King Mahabali. For me,  he is a superhero who amazed the world with his judicious and compassionate care to his countrymen.  He could bring and sustain truth and harmony in his land,  and finally he taught us how one should be committed to his words without any fear….

Today is Onam Day 5. (08Sep2016 😉
